I’ll be honest, I am not feeling super motivated to share right now. You know when a scab falls off too early and the skin underneath is still so new that it kind of hurts when the air touches it? That’s sort of how I feel about a lot of things in my life right now, they’re so new I’m not quite ready to share them yet. It’s all just a bit… sensitive.
So, we’ll save the mushy gushies for another day, and instead I’ll hit you with the cold hard facts of the week:
When this newsletter comes out I will be in the process of trapping my cats in their crates, before taking them on what I’m sure will be a totally peaceful and not at all stressful or loud hour long car ride down to San Jose. Pray for me. Actually, pray for them, they will be just barely more stressed than me.
That’s right folks, we’re moving! It’s happening!
Big weekend for Grace driving back and forth on 880 many (many) times, and big weekend for Iroh and Zuko hanging out in the bathroom of our new house with all their favorite cozy things. Because I didn’t want to stress them out I haven’t packed anything yet, so it’s going to be a lot of work. I’m excited though! Now that it’s really happening I can get hyped about it. I can’t wait to share my initial observations about the neighborhood and my house next week.
Ok these next few items are less “cold hard facts” and more “sizzling thoughts, hot off the ol’ mind grill”… or I guess you could call them…
Bits & Bobs
Rhythmic gymnastics is so cool and it’s a shame people don’t pay more attention to it, even in an Olympic year. The individual routines are amazing, here’s the girl who won the Olympic all around doing her ribbon routine (ok sidenote in the most non-body-shaming way possible I think she’s built like a Tim Burton character and it kinda freaks me out, but she’s really really amazing and it’s not her fault her legs are so long). But even more amazing to me are the group routines. The precision! The accuracy! The awareness! Holy mackerel! Here’s a hoop routine, and a mixed ball and ribbon routine.
One hyper specific thing I’m excited about for my new house is that I don’t have to put the cat’s litter box in the bathroom. What an upgrade! If you have never experienced the oh so gross feeling of stepping out of the shower with wet feet onto litter that someone (Zuko) likes to throw all over the place count yourself lucky! I can’t wait to have a nice clean bathroom floor, and the boys can have a nice private little corner of the big room as their own personal cat-bathroom.
I’ve been thinking about revamping my work wardrobe minorly (once I’m financially stable again lol), to get rid of stuff that I don’t like / isn’t comfortable, and invest in a few more sweaters. I’ve realized that there is literally no need for me to own office-wear that isn’t “fall/winter” because it is literally always the depths of winter in this office. Sweaters forever. I might even invest in a pair of office slippers so I can take my shoes off and have my toes not go numb. You think I’m kidding but my toes are numb right now as I’m writing this.
Someone posted this quote on their Instagram story yesterday and it’s the closest I’ll come to talking about my real emotions today — “I know that right choices by definition are the means by which life crystallizes loss”. I looked it up, its from Rules of Civility by Amor Towles and I cannot vouch for the book at all but the quote is on theme. (Also if that was your Instagram story hey hi you know who you are, glad you’re here.)
Finally, and perhaps most importantly, someone has been leaving stray fish all over Berkeley. Seriously. I keep finding them!
That’s all I got for you this week, folks. Thanks for sticking with me through the ups and downs, your support has been so constant and I really do notice. I hope you have a great weekend, and if you have any extra energy or good moving luck to send my way… please do.
As always, thanks so much for being here and I’ll talk to you next week :)
xoxo,
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Peaceful cat vibes, strong and safe Judith energy, and light and bright new place love coming your way!
